Scope:  

The CAD Designer is responsible for using design software and drawing tools independently to accurately render and communicate design plans.

Reports To: 

Classification: Exempt

Hours: Mon-Fri (may vary based on project needs)

Supervisory Responsibility:  N/A


Essential Job Functions:

  • Uses design software and drawing tools independently to accurately render and communicate design plans
  • Creates full drawing set and plans by analyzing sketches, field notes and other input materials to determine the best approach for drawings
  • Design site plans, elevations, and equipment & structural details while working with engineering staff and project managers
  • Flawlessly conform to the company’s standard CAD procedures for layering, etc., and standard drawing procedures for sheet layout
  • Create details and verify dimensions between drawing sheets
  • Enter and track all project related data in a cloud-based platform according to company standards
  • Conduct site visits to gather existing conditions data and effectively take notes
  • Collaborates with project team to successfully complete a high volume of projects with established budgets and deadlines
  • Complete assignments of increased difficulty as proficiency increases
  • Complete self-review for all deliverables to eliminate errors


Other Duties:

  • Maintain continuous awareness and knowledge of the project status 
  • Attend internal and external status meetings, as needed
  • Seek guidance and take direction from other project team members

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent is required
  • Associates Degree or a Certificate from a technical school, related to AutoCAD is preferred
  • 2-6 years of design experience
  • Skilled in AutoCAD concepts, theories, principles, and practices
  • Experience with Photoshop is a plus
  • Telecommunications design experience is a plus
  • Understanding of different types of drawings, such as FDNY, LPC, zoning boards, etc. is preferred


Physical Demands: 

Occasionally the employee will need to visit sites that include rooftop access while lifting and/or moving equipment up to 25 lbs.
